We are proud of our member Doreen Gagne who is leaving next week to go to Haiti in the relief effort through Johns Hopkins. She will spend 2 weeks help the families in need of medical care after the devastating earthquake that has torn this country apart. Our prayers and thoughts are with her. She will update us upon her return.


Congratulation to Nina DeSell who has been selected by the SOHN Awards Committee to be honored as the 2010 Kalynn Quinn Hensley Lecturer on “EXIT Procedure for CHAOS”. The Kalynn Quinn Hensley Lectureship was established in 2001 to honor the memory of a very dear patient who was cared for by many of the SOHN nurses in Houston, TX. Kalynn was diagnosed with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP). She required frequent surgical procedures to maintain her airway. She lost her fight for life in 2000 as a young adult due to pulmonary disease progression to cancer. The Lectureship is scheduled at our 34th Annual Congress & Nursing Symposium in Boston, MS, September 26, 10:30-11:30am.
